The popular iMoves (Independent Movers) program began as part of the Darwin Fringe Festival in 2005. The aim of iMoves is to create a platform for local independent choreographers and dancers of all dance backgrounds to showcase their original dance works, in a contemporary format to local, interstate and international audiences. Each year has included a specific theme which the choreographers incorporate into the creation of their work to show. This program has proven highly successful with the 2007, 2008 and 2009 projects being presented as part of the Darwin Festival, showcasing trained dancers from a wide range of cultural dance disciplines.
2009 and 2010 has seen Ausdance NT able to form a very successful, supportive and workable partnership with Darwin Festival in terms of making sure that iMoves is a strong and well attended event within the Festival Program.
