Calling all NT dance artists!
In the raw beauty of Alice Springs, Dusty Feet Dance Collective are running a week of intensive contemporary dance and choreography workshops.
The workshops will culminate in an informal showing on the final day for an invited audience.
The project will be offered free to dance artists from across the NT, based on submission of a CV or expression of interest to Dusty Feet showing a suitable level of experience.
Guest artists, Roland Cox and Victoria Chiu, bring a wealth of experience as performers and choreographers in Australia and overseas, having worked with companies including Australian Dance Theatre and Chunky Move, as well as producing their own independent work in Europe and in Sydney.
The project will run from Monday October 3rd to Friday October 7th. Each day will begin with a contemporary dance class that aims to build on and challenge the skills of the participants, followed by choreographic development workshops in which participants can explore concepts and ideas through task-based work.
This will lead to the creation of a short piece for an informal showing and discussion session on the final day.
Roland will contribute to workshops both as a dance teacher supporting Victoria, and as a musician, by exploring with the participants ways of connecting live music to dance and also providing musical accompaniment for classes.
This is a wonderful opportunity for NT dance artists to expand and enrich their practice. NT dancers from outside Alice Springs are also encouraged to attend!
WHEN: October 3-7, 2011
